March 16 Woodbrook Hunt Club invites Pony Club members to join us

PLEASE NOTE - This hunt requires riders 17 yo and over to have a JBLM iSportsman permit and takes several days, so start that process now! Signup for this hunt closes Friday at 6 pm.

When: Sunday, March 16th at 11:00 am (please plan to arrive an hour early)

Where:
WHC Clubhouse - 6206 150th St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98439

Who is invited:
All PNW Pony Club members, parents and leaders!

Why:
For juniors, come and earn your USPC Foxhunting Recognition Program Pin! This hunt is the required mounted portion (Section Two) and Section One can be completed at a meeting. Email MFH Melody if you’d like our help with Section One!

What do I need?
Parents and adults that are planning to ride need an iSportsman Permit for JBLM (see below), we hunt on an active Army base! Riders use this link: https://woodbrookhuntclub.app.resmarksystems.com/.../HRta... This takes you to the WHC Resmark portal for riders to sign a waiver and pay a capping (guest) fee of $50 for Pony Club parents and leaders, and juniors are $25. Once payment is made, you will get a confirmation email with the link to get an iSportsman permit for riders 17 yo and older.

Car caravans or adults walking ponied kids don’t need a permit so should use this link:

What to wear:
Suggested - Juniors, dark jacket, beige breeches and boots with heels, white or light shirt with tie or stock tie or buttoned collar, helmets. Horses/ponies – wear what is most comfortable for them too, light or white saddle pads preferred, we recommend some “brakes” a kimblewick or pelham for stopping power, the first hunt can be pretty exciting!

Where should I ride?
Jt, MFH Theresa Lazares, our Field Secretary, will be checking in to learn everyone’s riding ability (do you want to gallop and jump or just walk/trot?) We plan to have five flights, all with fieldmasters and members that will help make the juniors feel comfortable and want to come back, these juniors are the future of foxhunting!
  • First Flight – walks, trots, canters and may gallop and jumps everything, this flight follows on the heels of the huntsman and hounds!
  • Second Flight – walks, trots and canters and can jump.
  • Third Flight – walks, trots and canters, no jumping.
  • Hilltoppers – walks and trots.
Walking or ponying a Pony Club rider flight – If we have juniors that need to be ponied, either from an adult walking on foot or being ponied, we will have a walking flight. You do not need an iSportsman permit to walk or be in a car caravan, use this link instead to sign a WHC waiver:
