Hunt Sponsor / Hound Fund
Among the duties associated with the privilege of WHC membership is the obligation to participate in the provision of at least 1 weekend Hunt Breakfast per season. Normally this is done in groups of 3 to 4 members and is organized by the Social Committee Chair. We cherish the fellowship and the delicious offerings that members prepare for these events. Plus, the $10 per person donation to the Hound Fund collected at these gatherings plays a significant role in care and feeding our beloved hounds.
We are very fortunate to be able to continue to hunt the hounds and enjoy our sport in spite of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But this only happens if we remain vigilant, keep our distance and wear our masks. Sadly, this means we will have to forego Hunt Breakfasts for the foreseeable future. Of course, we encourage members to bring their own post-hunting snacks to enjoy while social distancing at the clubhouse or trailers.
HOWEVER, we still need the traditional breakfast income to meet our budgetary requirements. So instead of preparing a breakfast, members are being asked to sponsor a hunt. As with the breakfasts, we will be looking for teams of 3 to 4. Therefore, rather than preparing and sharing food we are asking for each member to make a contribution of $125 to the “Hound Fund”. Once you have paid, you will have met your breakfast obligation for the year, even if we are lucky enough to move on to sharing meals later in the season.
Members will be contacted by the Social Chairman, Karen Sargent, to choose a weekend hunt they would like to sponsor, or they may contact her directly via email at [email protected] if they have questions or wish to organize a group and lock in a particular date. If members have the ability to pay a bit extra or wish to sponsor a hunt in someone’s name or to honor a horse or a hound, we can accommodate that too! Sponsor "Profile Posts" (unless someone specifically wishes to remain anonymous) will be made on social media and will hopefully allow members to continue to learn something new and interesting about each other in spite of social distancing! Tally-ho!
