So what are Hunter Trials?
These classes were originally created to test the bravery, stamina and level-headedness of a field hunter over conditions that simulate the terrain and obstacles found on a typical hunt. This year we will REALLY be testing the horses and riders, as the John P. Brooks, MFH Memorial Brooks, Fieldhunter Class becomes a timed speed derby where riders may be asked to jump over water, open a gate, go down a bank for extra points, and the winner will take home a gorgeous engraved champagne bucket complete with champagne! You'll see two derbies, pairs and teams jumping astride, cute kids on ponies and maybe visit with a foxhound or two! |
Not Ready for Hunter Trials?
We know some riders may not be ready yet for the open field, for them we are offering a Hunter Horse Show in the Andy Lorig fenced sand arena as well as a Hunter Pace all day! And this year we've added ticketed schooling rounds from 9 am to 11:30 am on the Hunter Trials course and from 8 am to 9 am in the sand arena! |
